1925
N. Tepperman Ltd. is started when Mr. Nate Tepperman began his door-to-door peddling career.
1929
Nate Tepperman opened his first store on Ottawa Street between Parent and Lillian in Windsor, Ontario.
1930
Rose married Nate, and they began to build their future.
1940
In order to serve the increasing numbers of customers better, Nate expanded in 1940, moving down to the corner of Pierre and Ottawa Streets. Nate had built a good reputation in the Ottawa Street district so he chose to stay.
1947
Nate Tepperman doubled Tepperman's display area with major construction of two additional floors to make Tepperman's the largest, most modern furniture and appliance store of this kind in Windsor.
1954
A new warehouse was built off of Dougall and Ouellette Avenues. Nate felt the 30,000 square feet warehouse was a central location despite its barren surroundings at that time (it has proved to be the centre of Windsor shopping).
1958
Nate's son Bill joined the management team. Bill returned to the store as a trainee in sales management, buying and merchandising. He had worked at practically every other job his dad had for him at the store while growing up.
1962
Rochelle married Bill and together they began to build their futures.
1970
Tragedy struck the Tepperman family! Nate Tepperman drowned while swimming in the ocean. The date was March 3, 1970 and the Tepperman family would be changed forever.
1973
Tepperman's expanded their warehouse, in order to meet the needs of a growing number of customers.
1978
Tepperman's expanded its warehouse and Windsor Store. Tepperman's built Southwestern Ontario's largest and most modern, (50,000 sq.ft.) store of its kind, allowing us to fashionably display the area's best selection of quality brand name Furniture, Mattresses, Appliances, Audio/Video and Area Rugs.
1981
Tepperman's broke further ground with the opening of a new Chatham, Ontario store. Tepperman's satisfied the request of customers in the Kent and Lambton counties, to have easier access to Tepperman's values
1991
Tepperman's opened to a new larger store in Chatham accommodating the increased number of customers. That same year Tepperman's makes the ultimate guarantee a reality for our customers by being the first to offer PDQ delivery, Lowest Price Guarantee, and Special Seniors Status.
1992
The Chatham Store caught fire and burned to the ground. This did not slow us down! Our temporary fire disaster store was opened within six weeks to a now permanent location 901 St. Clair Street, thanks to the spectacular effort of our total team.
1993
Once again, Tepperman's made history by expanding to better serve the needs of Lambton County, with the opening of our Sarnia Store on Exmouth Road by the Lambton Mall.
1997
Tepperman's added a London Store. With the new theme in black, red and white: 'Tepperman's: We Fit The Lifestyle Of Your Home' we set out to make Furniture, Mattresses, Appliance, Audio/Video and Area Rug shopping convenient for you across Southwestern Ontario. That same year Andrew Tepperman, the son of Rochelle and Bill, joined the family business as the first General Manager of our London operation.
2000
Tepperman's celebrated our 75th Anniversary with 'Tepperman's 75th Anniversary Free Year' - over $75,000 product giveaway. Plus, Noah Tepperman, the youngest son of Rochelle and Bill, joined the family business as the first Director of Human Resources, to address the needs of our staff. That staff size now exceeds 280 people, in order to serve you better and faster.
2001
Tepperman's new Sarnia Store, 25% bigger, opened on February 2, 2001 to much fanfare. The most modern store of it's kind in Sarnia, this store is sure to be a model of what Tepperman's will look like in the future.
2003
Tepperman's new Chatham Store opened on September 7, 2003. The shiny new state-of-the-art location is nearly triple the size of the previous store, offering the community of Chatham-Kent unparalleled selection of home furnishing fashions and the latest technology in appliances and audio/video.
2005
Tepperman's celebrates it's 80th Anniversary! A success that is a reflection of the commitment the Tepperman family has made to the families of Southwestern Ontario and will continue in the many years to come.
2006
