How to Create a Reading Nook in Your Home

Carving out a dedicated spot in your home to enjoy a book is always a good idea. Whether you’re living in a tiny apartment or a large house, everyone deserves a space of their own where they can kick up their feet and relax. You may think that you need lots of space to create a reading nook, but we’re here to tell you that you an achieve the look even with limited space. To get started, assess your bedroom and see if there is a corner with approximately a 5'x5' area that could be used. Then, all you need is a few key pieces:

1. Area rug:

An area rug will not only bring colour and texture to your reading nook but helps to define the space and create spatial awareness. When working with a corner space we recommend opting for a round area rug.

2. Accent chair + Ottoman:

Try to pick something on a slightly smaller scale that won't overwhelm the space. If you can find an accent chair with a slightly curved back this will fit even better into a corner space.

3. Side Table:

You don't need anything large. Look for something that can hold a lamp, cup of tea and a plant.

4. Art:

Don't forget to dress up the wall space behind your reading chair. This will really enhance the look of the nook.

5. Book storage:

Depending on the available space, you may have room for a small book shelf next to the chair. If not, consider using decorative baskets that can be tucked to the side.
