Style vs. function —which one wins when you’re updating a space? At Tepperman’s, we believe that there’s room for both. We want to help you create a home that is not only stylish, beautiful and welcoming, but also works for you and your lifestyle. Follow these tips to add function to any room without compromising style.

1. Keep Things Flexible

A functional home needs to be flexible because our styles are ever-changing. Keep your main furnishings neutral and add colours with accents. This gives you freedom to update your space seasonally.

2. Be Clutter Free

Storage solutions are important in every space. Try adding storage ottomans and benches, floor to celing media units, open shelving, decorative baskets, mobile serving stations and storage beds.

3. Define Your Space

Open concept living continues to be popular, but many people forget the importance of keeping each space defined. Area rugs do double duty: they bring colour and texture to a room and create spatial awareness for all areas in one open space.

4. Create Flow

You can only call a space functional if it works with your daily needs. Take time and plan your travel path through space, does anything get in your way? Draw a floor map to visualize your traffic path and position furniture accordingly.
