Q: What’s your favourite thing about working at Tepperman’s? 

A: Obviously the staff discounts!

I love working for a local Ontario company where the owners and other leaders are visible and engaged – for both our employees and customers. Tepperman’s has deep heritage and operates in a relatively traditional industry that is undergoing huge technological and consumer “Buy Now Pay Later” behavioural changes. There is way more to us than tables and chairs.

Q: Describe your job in three words: 

A: Customers. Goals. Approvals.

Q: What makes Tepperman’s in-house financing different? 

A: Most lenders focus on payment plans that require monthly payments. While we do offer interest free monthly payment plans, we specialize in interest free NO PAYMENT plans for up to 3 years. Can you imagine financing a car and not having to make a single payment until the end of the contract? Guess what, you can do this at Tepperman’s for your new kitchen appliances or home renovation. 

In today’s world of rising interest rates, offering 0% interest payment plans is becoming unique by itself. 

Q: What’s a misconception about Tepperman’s in-house financing that you want to clear up? 

A: I think there is a lot of misconception on why we offer our own financing in the first place and that “there must be a catch?”. Almost all our financing customers are on 0% multi-year interest payment plans and most never pay a dime of interest. For those that want more time at the end of their 1–3-year interest free period, we do offer low interest payment plans that allow payment flexibility for everyone.  

We have been providing financing in one form or another for almost 100 years and we do it for two reasons: 1) We hope that you may feel comfortable spending that little extra to get what you really want knowing that you have plenty of time to make payments, and 2) You are more likely to become lifelong customer. In today’s world, retail loyalty is rare thing and knowing you have an open credit account ready to use, normally translates to a repeat customer.

Q: What are the benefits of choosing Tepperman’s financing instead of a credit card? 

A: Credit card points are overrated. Most of our credit customers regularly use their Visa or Mastercard for day-to-day purchases but understand the benefit of 0% financing on big ticket items.
